During this period he has worked on the analysis, biosynthesis, regulation and metabolic engineering of carotenoids and other isoprenoids, both in plant and microbial systems. Over 100 peer reviewed articles have been published. Five patents have been applied for to date. More recently Paul has established both metabolomic and proteomic platforms as core activities within the laboratory. Presently he is the academic member of the FSA/DEFRA Food authenticity working group focusing on technologies and their implementation.
