Paul D. Fraser will lead the RHUL scientific team. He has over 20 years’ experience working both in academia and industry within the UK, Germany and Japan. During this period he has worked on the analysis, biosynthesis, regulation and metabolic engineering of carotenoids and other isoprenoids, both in plant and microbial systems. Over 100 peer reviewed articles have been published. Five patents have been applied for to date. More recently Paul has established both metabolomic and proteomic platforms as core activities within the laboratory. Presently he is the academic member of the FSA/DEFRA Food authenticity working group focusing on technologies and their implementation. Paul has also contributed and organised European outreach activities including metabolite profiling training schools for early stage researchers. He is also the coordinator of the EU FP7 programmes METAPRO and DISCO involved in the use of high value compounds from plants and the ERA-IB project PROCAR which is concerned with the development of valuable compounds from renewable sources.
