Leonia is Tanzanian and holds a BSc in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from University of Dar es salaam. She is a Research Assistant on the African Cassava Whitefly Project (ACWP) led by Natural Resources Institute (NRI), University of Greenwich, UK. She is based at MARI in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. She is in charge of conducting field research activities to support cassava breeders in Tanzania in evaluation of local germplasm for whitefly resistance.
