Jesús Navas‐Castillo received his BSc from University of Granada and his PhD from University of Valencia. His current research is focused to the study of whitefly‐transmitted viruses that affect solanaceous crops as tomato including criniviruses and begomoviruses. Also, he is involved in research on sweet potato viruses and persistent avocado viruses. Understanding mechanisms and molecular determinants associated with virus‐whitefly interactions allowing transmission is a main goal of his research. He teaches Plant Genetics at the University of Málaga and is a member of the editorial board of Archives of Virology.
